Deal does not know...
All rotors are basic cast iron.
Saab OEM pads are quiet, but very abrasive and hard on the rotors. The pads and rotors kill each other. Many folks have had things worn out in 20K or even less.
For those doing highway commutes, they can get much higher miles out of their brakes. Driving technique also is a huge factor. And vehicles with automatics can probably be the worst, in combo with certain drivers.
Many switch to non-oem pads to avoid this, and some even swap out the OEM pads when the vehicle is new, as 160 miles in my case. The OEM pads are quiet, but ultimately expensive to use... Using a aftermarket pads for the Aero brakes is important as the Aero rotors are expensive and there are no aftermarket rotors. The older 9-3s and all 9-5s use the same front pad.
Best solution for many is to replace the brakes themselves. The savings VS dealer installed Saab parts is huge. DIY info is available on this site.
