The problem here is not the fact that this car is a few thousand miles out of warranty. The problem is that since 1999 Saab has had a problem with this GD F - ing DIC, PERIOD! The same is true for the "blue smoke" turbo and the SID! As this poster mentioned, he is on his third Saab and other members of his family also have them. Saab knows darn well this has been a problem for 5 or 6 years and what have they done about it????
I am on my fourth Saab and most likely my last because of these issues. Every car has it's own unique design problems. It is the lack of customer support from this not for profit brand which will keep them in this holding pattern until GM changes the way it values customers and realizes that if there is a design problem that has continued to strand loyal customers who are only looking for a fix to a known problem which is no fault of the customer more and more people are going to Lexus and Acura. BMW recently announced that all 2002 and 2003 745L and LI's will now have their warranties extended to 100,000 miles due to problems that they were having with the i drive system. This extention was granted to EVERY customer regardless of weather they had a problem with the i drive or not.
Message to Saab - That is how you take care of CUSTOMERS when YOU sell them a known defective product.
Again, this in no way should be Liam's problem, the DIC has been a known problem for 5 or 6 years!
