99-2001 are pretty similar. 2002 and up are rearranged and restyled slightly.

In 2001 you could get a 4 cyl 2.3 LPT, or an SE with the 3.0 V6, or an Aero with the 2.3 HOT, high output turbo sport suspension and 17" wheels.

In 2002 the 2.3lpt became the Linear, the SE V6 became the Arc, and the Aero carried over. All models had improved 5 speed autos, slightly revised front facia and taillights, slightly improved front suspension. The Aeros got sport seats and aluminum look interior trim instead of wood.

The four cylinder cars ('cept Aeros) all have the option of a premium package that's standard on the V6 cars and Aeros. Harmon Kardon sound, auto dim mirror, memory drivers seat, nice stiff.

And all sedans are all availible, and really cool, as SportWagons. Some consider the SportWagon the natural successor to the 5 door hatch.

A 9-5 will feel very familiar to NG900 owner, but will offer state of the art luxury upgrades and performance features.

Another benefit of a 9-5 is their outstanding reliability. The Saab plant got remodeled by GM for 9-5 production and the quality took a big jump up with all the new stuff.

Ask your local Saab dealer about Certified Pre Owned Saabs. The Saab program is one of the best CPO programs and quite reasonable as far as the pricing of the 6/100 warranty extension goes.

$14k is a really good price on any nice 2001 9-5, even a base 2.3lpt stick. As you say it's under warranty, have it checked out by a Saab dealer.
