we are on our second, the first, a 1999 9-5 lpt, that I put the upgraded ecu in, has been handed off to my mom, still no troubles, after 90,000 miles, it needed a DI cassette, that's it.
we bought the car with 50,000 miles, and it did great for us, until I found a 2002 9-5 aero...so we did the upgrade.
make sure if you buy a preowned, that all the oil changes have been done, it seems all the transverse engine saabs (except the first, model 92) are succeptible to oil sludge
I would dare say the 9-5's are the most reliable saab ever made, and we've owned them all, strokers, v4's, 99's, 900's, ng900's, 9-3's, 9-5's....my wife and I both prefer the 9-5 over anything else....although a 99 turbo or 1986 900 spg are both a lot of fun, they were never as reliable as the 9-5's are.
