I am having an issue with my '00 9-5 SE where the ABS/TCS OFF/BRAKE/(!) lights come on and go off intermittently.

I have taken it to a local reapair shop (from the listings on saabnet.com), and they said that they couldn't reproduce the problem and that they checked the codes and there was none.

The problem started a couple weeks ago and the symptoms have gotten worse. At first, the lights would come on and go right back off a second later (happened 3-4 times). Now they tend to stay on for several minutes and take the speedometer out with them (goes to zero after the lights stay on for more than a second). The last two times the problem happeded (on the way to the shop and after the second time driving it after I picked it up), the lights stayed on (15-20 minutes) until I turned the car off. The last time it happened, the ENGINE light came on as well (first time).

The shop thought it might actually have something to do with the ignition box (recently had a customer with a problematic ignition that caused similar light problems) and asked me to try to wiggle the key the next time the problem cropped up (which didn't help). The shop also said that since they didn't get a code, they're not sure that this isn't just a display glitch. Of course the lights are worrisome, and the lack of speedometer is problematic.

Any ideas?

Does this sound like a problem with the (very expensive) TCS/ACS computer referenced in the thread 'ACS/TCS help needed' from August '04? [I also posted this message under that thread, but I want to make sure it appears at the top of the list and doesn't go unnoticed. (apologies for the double posting)]

Thanks,
-Geoff
