Possible solution for satellite radio/MP3 players?

Like many of you, I have been looking for a better solution to connect my satellite radio and iPod to my stereo. As we all know, right now, the only two ways to do this (and still use your original Saab stereo) is either via FM modulator (wired or wireless) or via a tape adaptor. I know you can get an adaptor to use a CD changer for many types of car stereos out there but not for our beloved Saab stereos. So I was thinking....
Our Saab stereo has an interface for a CD changer right? Have any of you tried getting the cable for the CD changer and pinning out the connections to figure out which pins are carrying the audio to the stereo? Once this is done it shouldn't be hard to make a connector to go from the device you want to use to this connector and into the stereo. You (of course) wouldn't be able to control the unit via the radio controls but I don't mind that.
I'm guessing this shouldn't be terribly difficult and I'm thinking, once we get back to Spring, I might attempt this. However, if any of you have already tried this and it just won't work I won't waste my time and the few bucks for the CD changer connector. In theory, this should be able to be done. The easiest way to do this, however, would be to use a CD changer to see where the audio is coming from. Since I don't have a CD changer it would be tough to do this. Maybe I could hook up with a fellow Saaber in the NYC area who may have a CD changer already installed and we could work together to make this work?
It's just something I've been wondering about for a while now since I have both satellite radio and an iPod I use regularly.
