Saabs in hot climate?

Advice needed, especially from Saab owners in hot climates!
I'm Saab ignorant but am interested in a Saab 9-5 station wagon, model year 2000. But I live in Melbourne, Australia and was told that Saabs in general don't do well in hot climates. [It's going to be 35 Celsius here today, or 95 Fahrenheit!] Will the car overheat frequently? Will plastic bits in the engine really melt or die prematurely? Will headgaskets blow every other day?
Many thanks.
