Just because you slap a couple of jumper cables on your car doesn't mean the other car battery or jumper cables are cappable of delivering full power to crank your car immedietly. You might have to leave the jumper cables on and the other car running for some 10-15 min before it has charged your battery some to help along.
It could also be that your car has a loose nut on the starter for the battery cable that will interfere with giving the starter full power.
