YES!! I think its worth buying. I bought a 2001 9-5 last year, and had to take it in for service several times. Usually they were minor repairs (i.e. cupholder replacement, light bulbs going out, etc) but, I did have several major breakdowns. So far, I had to replace my fuel pump, turbo charger, and my wheel bearings. I think just those 3 repairs more than paid for my extended warrenty.
On a side note, my wagon is sitting at the dealer since Thanksgiving holidays awaiting repair. The dealer tells me that they are waiting for the replacement part (turbocharger for the V6) and that the part is Nationally backordered. Anyway, though I miss driving my wagon, I am enjoying the 04 9-5 loaner car.
Since after one year, I have a first name basis relationship with my service rep... I highly recommend you getting the extended warrenty.
With that said, I still love driving my Saab.
