My experience with a 9000 was VERY unsatisfactory, similar to dealing with homeowners warranty you get when you buy a new house. Had to be threatening to get anywhere with them and even then didn't get what I thought was fair. I paid about $1,800 for an extended warranty that took the car to six years or 100k miles; of course, the time came first. The automatic transmission went even though maintained beyond what's called for in the manual. New one cost $4,700 installed. Can't remember the broker's name but the actual dealing was with AIG in Florida. They called to my attention that the policy stated replacement could be with: (a) new; (b) re-manufactured; or, (c) "like kind". Since my car had around 50k miles, they offered "like kind" (so, from a wreck of some sort). I stated that wasn't "like kind" since it wasn't maintained like mine. Didn't help. They said value was $1,300 for the part. At the time, the remanufactured (i.e., 1 year warranty) Saab part cost $2,200. I would have had to pay $900. After a lot of arguing, we split the $900 three ways between AIG, the dealer (who felt sorry for me), and me. So, if you do this read the policy carefully! I would never buy one again.
