I'm kind of working my way to figure out what torque is needed to loosen perfectly good bolts.
Of all the cars I have done so far I haven't found one that made me think that it might had been torqued at earlier times.
I also base my feeling on all the hundreds of older Saab engines that I have loosen up the bolts on before all this started, doing a regular head gasket job.
Most of the times I had to apply quite a bit of strenght to get those bolts up but since it was never an issue back then I didn't really pay much attention or set my torque wrench while loosening the bolts.
A rough guess is that it might take about 90-100 Nm to loosen a perfect bolt.
Well, you shouldn't retorque (or loosen) bolts or a red hot engine.
After 1-2 hours it is cold enough to not make a difference.
