Rob, I recently bought an 88 convertible. There are problems that you have to think about - such as - is the roof going to last. Check the seal around the back window. Check for a tight fit between the roof and the windows. Check for small holes in the roof itself. About the body being less supported - Saab builds their covertibles from scratch (as opposed to cutting the roof off of an existing car) so that they have more support than they would otherwise. Go to saabturbo.com and visit the "convertibles" section. You'll learn more than you ever wanted to know about the Saab drop-top. Sure, you have a few more rattles or squeaks than in a hard-roof car. But, being able to put the top down makes it worth it...in my opinion anyway. I have driven mine over some of the most pot-hole filled roads and I haven't had much to complain about. Unless you are planning on racing the car offroad, you won't notice any decrease in the amount of body stiffness - or an increase in body roll. Take it for a test drive anyway - and take some hard turns. I am almost willing to PROMISE you that you'll like what you see and feel. Good luck.
