Alain,

I do not know anything about the lucas FI system, but why don't you check and see what the o2 sesnor is seeing at idle. Connect a dvm to the sensor lead. It should show 0.4 or so until it warms up (<2 min) then fluctuating voltage between 0.3 and 0.7 with the average around 0.5. If it is lean (vacuum leak), it will be low and if it it rich it will be high. You may also want top check it (with an assistant) while you are driving to see if it adjusts while under power. Make sure that the AMM and o2 sensors have a good ground. I had a bad ground om my white '92. It would run fine for 5 min or so and then go solid rich. When I would restart, it would be fine than go solid rich. I measured the voltage on the AMM and it was 2.6V to the engine and 2.15 at the AMM. The AMM was fine, but eh ground connection for it was dirty.

That you are now popping hoses means that the APC is letting boost develop and maintain long enough to pop hoses off. Try changin the old hard hoses to silicone or use wire ties to clamp them on tighter.

What was happening with the 25 deg base timing setting was that the car was spooling up very quickly? It was probably detonating at high boost and the APC was cutting back boost at high throttle position and high rpm, yet it would jump away from lights until the APC was sensing detonation. I would pull the APC and verify that the pot settings have not been tampered with. There are 3 pots on the board and are all 'sealed' with a bit of paint to keep them from vibrating loose. Make sure no-one has tampered with the K pot. Does the APC system function correctly? With the Red Box, you should be able to have a bit into the red and popping back with knocking at about 3k rpm and tapering back above 3.5 - 4 krpm.

Good Luck,

Keith Grider
