I saw JohnB's response, but I'm guessing you are experiencing the same thing I am.....the temerature gauge never really indicates the engine is warm, and there is NO noticable heat coming from the vents. After reading my newly arrived Bently shop manual, I believe my thermostat is stuck in the open position.
So, if you have heat coming from the vents, then your gauge is likely faulty. If you have no heat, then your gauge is correct in that your engine is cold and the thermastat is stuck open and not alowing the engine to warm up properly.
(The car should warm if it is sitting still and has no airflow going through the radiator.)
Other then replacing my thermostat, if you know of anything that might help, I'd be interested in hearing.
