Head gasket repair lasts how long? Should I sell my 92 900S?

I just had a head-gasket repair done on my 92 900S (~86,000 miles). Here in Baton Rouge, LA, I effectively don't have a Saab mechanic--only one "boutique" shop would touch it for $1,550 (which included some machine-shop work to repair tiny cracks in the head). Given the lack of affordable mechanics here and what I've read on this bulletin board about the problems with 92-93 900s, should I think seriously about selling the car? I'm the original owner, so I know it's been well-maintained, but I'm still looking at horrendous repair costs when something serious goes wrong that I cannot fix myself. My skills & free time limit me to simple work like brakes, tune-ups, etc. I know that in about 10,000 miles, I'll need new tires and probably rear brake calipers. The sagging headliner, the leaking crank seal, and the cruise control also need fixing. Like most of you, I dearly love the way the car drives...but I also don't want it to become a money pit. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
