is not necessay. If you lay an 85-6 SPG air dam over a standard early turbo air dam you'll see that all the openings match perfectly. Hence, it is NOT necessary to mount a later style oil cooler because the old one gets it's air flow thru the same holes in the SPG air dam as the turbo air dam. I had to do the same thing. I had kit from and 86 SPG sans the air dam, but I happened to keep the air dam from an old 84T. I used the air dam from my buddy's 85 SPG as the template for the necessary cuts. I wouldn't be surprised if Saab went this route to keep manufacturing costs down rather than having to design and produce a completely new piece. It isn't hard to do. I cut mine with a hack saw. Save yourself a lot of money and cut the 84 air dam to size.
