Thanks MarkJ & GregD,
I have previously rebuilt engines ranging from a VW 1500CC to a 396CI Chevy Big block to most recently a Mercury V6 175HP 2 cycle, so I have lived a bit.
I understand the old (86) 8V motors are pretty stout, do you all agree?
Local dealer says "the best motor SAAB ever built".....
I read the link for the 900conversion, and find it very thorough. It scared me at first to think of gutting the interior, but I guess the shifter and pedals require this extensive work. The 86 base I am looking at has the floor shifter w/o any console, if this makes a difference.
Perhaps the final question for consideration....where to find the donor SAAB 5spd. manual with all necessary parts included? Is there any database of SAAB specialty boneyards? I live in the Charlotte area, and have yet to come across a yard specializing in SAABS.
Thanks in advance.
