Automatic vs. 5-speed highway speed tach readings....

Hello,
I have a 'newly aquired '91 900TC. It is an automatic, and I am fairly unhappy with the auto. The topic was discussed in an earlier thread re: swapping a manual for an auto. I found someone who can do it for me (I don't have time or facility).
First I wanted to pose this question to the board. Would some of you with 5 speeds (autos as well - the more the merrier)be so kind as to tell me what your tach readings are at say 60, 70, and 80 mph? I will check mine tommorrow and post. The reason is that, yes, I prefer a manual in almost all respects, but my main beef is that the 3 speed auto seems to have uncomfortably high rpms at highway speeds. I have had 5 speed 900s in the past, but it's been a while, and I am wondering if I was just pampered too much by my last car, a volvo 740t with overdrive. The OD knocked about 1000 rpms off, and it was a VERY relaxed ride. Anyway, thanks very much and hope to see some numbers if any of you would be so kind.
