SUPER Rich...Lots O Smoke...PLEASE HELP!!! Posted by Dave S [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Hello everyone...I know how some of you love to solve SAAB Problems, well I have one for you and its stumping me as of yet. OK, here goes. 86' 900S. When I start her up it fires right up runs as I expect smooth as glass, no probs...10 seconds later rough running and lots of grey smoke...the smoky gas smelling type of smoke, NOT to be confused w/head gasket. It seems to be trying to flood itself. The fuel injection is the type with a mass airflow sensor not the type with that plate that meters out fuel. The ground wires going to the head looked a bit corroded so I removed and cleaned, I also removed and re-plugged in the Mass Airflow connector...BAM! the car runs great, very smooth no smoke, as though nothing had happened. So I thought It was solved and 25 minutes later it was back with a vengance. Since the problem went away temporarily after suspecting corroded electrical connections...I will continue down this avenue of thought until directed otherwise. The car has spent a considerable amount of time in NJ so it is a bit overexposed to salt air...corrosion. The car has been a joy to live with up until now, no problems at all mechanically. I will continue to check electrical connections and clean and grease all that I come across...While I'm doing this, What are your thoughts. Ever hear of this before? Looking forward to your responses, and Thank you in advance!!!
