It sounds like the AMM. First, is the OS reasonably new or orig? Have you checked to make sure that the O2 is getting a 12V and good ground to the pre-heater? If so, I would check the o2 signal with a digital volt meter while running while connected to the FI computer. At idle when cold, it should be about 0.6V or so and solig. As the heater warms up, it will start to move off 0.6 and then oscillate slowly between 0.2 and 0.8. If it does this (doubtful), all is well. If not, check the AMM signal while running as well. It should be 2.15V at idle. The LH faq on Saabnet gives the idle voltage spec for the 2.2. If it is higher (2.6 or more) as measured between the battery and the proper pin on the AMM, you are near a solution. Next verify that the voltage between the ground pin at the AMM (it appears that this is a blue/white wire, but consult the Bentley as I do not have it near by right now) and pin 5 reads the same voltage when it is idling poorly. If it reads 2.15 or so, then your problem is possibly a bad ground. Clean the connection at the front of the gearbox and try again. If it persists, the AMM is most probably bad. You may be lucky and be able to get it to run a bit better if you use throttle body cleaner on the AMM internals and let it dry then re-install it. I have one which rund poorly when it is damp out and have not actually replaced it as it is not too bad when it is warm and running.
