Head Gasket? (long)

Tell me if you all think that I have an external Head Gasket leak on my 92 900 base, 74,000 miles:
I am loosing coolant. I find about 5 drops after I have driven the car to the point that it heats up to the point that the fans come on. I thought it was oil for the longest time because the coolant is that MB brown which looks to me like used synthetic. Howver, I was all systems go on trans and engine oil. I investigated further. The leak is coming from the area of the engine block drain on the passenger side US of the engine. I believe, bit am not sure, that the head and block come together at a point just north of the drain. Is this correct? I know that the 2.1 has head gasket problems, but I was hoping to avoid them for a little while longer. Can I tighten the head? Can I inset some JB Weld or other where it is leaking if it is the head? This weekend I'm going to make sure the drain plig is not leaking.
By the way, no loss of performance and no steam in exhaust.
