The biggest problem in the headunits is when the sun is shining, you can't read a damn thing on the headunit. I've owned 3 different Pioneers and liked the unit, but I couldn't read the face. I haven't tried Pioneer's new OLE display, that might be good.
I'm currently using a SONY Explod. The cheapest one they had. Overall I really like the unit. It has a couple of small features like when you are using the CD, the radio antenna goes down. It doesn't fade in the sun. The only thing I found missing is that there is no scan button, only seek.
Maybe the more expensive models have this.
I've also tried Blaupunk. This one had great features. It would have a preset volume when you turned it on, so if you had it cranked when you turned the car off, it would come on at the lower, preset volume.
You could also change the colors of the unit from orange to green depending on what you liked. I never had sunfade with this unit. The only problem I had with it, was that I broke the buttons by pushing to hard on them. It was 5 years ago, so they may have fixed that problem.
