As others have pointed out, it's where the exhaust lives. In Saab Land - er, Sweden - the roads aren't all that great in places and ground clearance is important. Keeping those delicate exhaust parts protected and out of harm's way is worth something. Beyond that, it certainly helps with aerodynamics, keeping airflow under the car a little smoother than if parts are hanging out. In fact, a recessed exhaust was a "feature" on previous generation Lexus LS400s - they were quite proud of it.
As for the flat floor, I find it funny Honda would advertise it. That was Cadillac's selling point for the first FWD Caddys... a flat rear floor. Honda=Cadillac. Neato.
