1. Open the oil fill cap.
2. Crawl under the car from the front. On the centerline of the transmission (which, oddly enough, is the bottom of a saab engine) about two feet back is a 13mm hex bolt - that's the drain, so drain it into something. Note that 6" rearward of the oil drain bolt is a funny looking large round plug w/ a 3/8" square hole in it - that's the tranny drain.
3. Get up and dust yourself off. The filter is on the drivers side of the engine. Look at the filler cap, follow the filler tube down and look to the right of it - you'll see a filter (green, orange, blue, white, whatever). Unscrew it (if you're looking down on it, clockwise is loose).
4. Replace it w/ a new one, but first coat the new gasket and threaded hole w/ some oil. Some people also fill the new filter w/ new oil before putting it back on, but as you see it's a tight fit down there and hard not to spill it all over the place. So thread it back on. Some filters have marks on them to indicated how tight they should be, but if not, just make it firmly snug by hand but not crazy tight.
5. Replace drain plug. Make sure it has it's copper washer, and a decent one at that. I don't know the torque spec, but just remember you're tightening a steel bolt into an aluminum hole - just snug it up, don't crank away on it or else.... ;o)
6. Fill it up with 4 qt of your oil.
7. Start it up, check for any leaks at the filter. All done, have a beer.
