I have an 88 convertible. The rear window basically fell out towards the end of last summer, about a month after I bought it. I tried duct tape, hot glue, nothing seemed to work. I then decided to go all out. I went to my local hardware store and bought epoxy. They make a kind that bonds glass and canvas (perfect for the job). I don't know if you know much about epoxy, but it's two liquids that are useless by themselves. If you mix them together, you have about 5 minutes until the stuff turns into concrete. You might need a few packages of the stuff, but it's worth it. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work right away, you have to hold it until the stuff sets. When it does, you'll have a perfect watertight seal that is nearly indestructable - it will look and feel like plastic when it's set. Have fun and enjoy the $500 in your pocket that you won't have to spend on a new rear window.
