Many times folks forget to go back to basics on the SAABS because of the apparent complicated electrical system...but keeping to the basics...gas, spark, and crank...and some normal indications that these are working..

When one just turns the key to the "Run" position without completely turning it to the "Start" position...you can sometimes hear the fuel pump come on for a few seconds to prime the gas line. That's a good indication the pump is working and you have gas....

When you now turn the key to "Start" and the engine cranks...the tach may bounce a little (a twitch so to speak). The tach gets its signals from the coil cicuit as the coil is activated by connecting the negative lead of the coil to the car body with the electronic ignition control module. Thus if you see the tach bounce as you crank then you are probably getting spark.

I can't say enough about fuse #22 which powers the electronic ignition and about everything you need to start the car...check it carefully...if you hear the pump and if you see the bounce, then I would be looking at the cold start injector performance...that only requies disconnecting the electical plug to it and putting a voltmeter into the plug socket. Crank the engine and quickly look at the voltmeter...it will only show the voltage for a very short time. To check to see if the coil of the cold injector is ok...just put an ohm meter across the terminals of the injector to get a resistance reading. Chances are good that the injector will work if you have continuity. However injector coils can burn out....
