Thanks to all. Another Saab heater valve has been replaced in this world. From all the posts, it seems like such a frequent repair. I had mine seeping for all the six years that I have owned my 91. Not too much of a problem in California since I use the heater only rarely. Saw a brand new valve on e-Bay a month ago offered by Trollhatten, so I figured I would give it a shot. Got it for $50.

Not too many problems during the repair, except for the heater rod. Tried to force it but didn't work. Took out the radio instead so I could disconnect the rod at the switch after the heater valve and heater core were loose. With the rod loose at the switch, it was a piece of cake. Did the reverse to put it back in there. Probably a little more work but I didn't want to take the risk of breaking anything on my beloved Saab. It is supposed to last me for another 20 years. Now I'm curious to see if my coolant stays level. Otherwise, need to get ready for the water pump. Never been changed with 140k and some signs of seepage. Lot's of FAQs there too to guide me.

Thanks to all of you guys. Without you I would have had to bring it to the garage and paid about $300 and not have had this fun on a Saturday morning.
