Ok well if anyone remembers I got a 5-speed tranny from Andrew's of Princeton like two months ago. It is going to be the tranny I use for my auto-5speed conversion.

After I took it apart and nicely arranged all the pieces on the table I thought everything was great. Now I am only 17 and this is the first tranny that I have ever opened up. I followed all the directions in Haynes and even got the Service Manual from the dealer.

As I was examining the parts I noticed that there is a lot of play between the output shaft and pinnion bearing housing. I did not know what this means but today a guy who had was quite experienced came over to look at the parts and immediatly said that I have a big problem. He said the play was abnormal and showed me how the teeth of the pinnion had become scratched at their base.

So what do you guys think I should do now, the tranny otherwise is in good shape. Only reverse and 5th are messed up. The guy who was helping me told me I need a new output shaft and a ring gear and pinnion.

I have not given up on my tranny yet and am hoping to find those parts.
I will call Erickson's on monday, What was their website again?
I would really appreciate it if you guys could give me an idea of where I could find these parts perhaps used so they won't cost a ton. Perhaps someone on the board has some spares they can sell??

What would be other good saab places to check?
