Short shifter

Just got my '84 900T back from the shop. Among the tasks was to install the short shifter from Sweeden (see GM on this BB). This thing is great. ALL slop is gone, and the throws are indeed short. The shifter no longer feels like a rubber band, replaced by tight, solid mechanical link. Time will tell if some play returns, but for now this thing is cool.
I retrofit an intercooler to the car in January and just had a chance to get it into the shop for some work. CIS was probably out of whack as I took it apart & cleaned it. Turns out the car had a bad distributor vacuum advance/retard unit, was getting horrible mileage, but would go like crazy, boost well into red zone. Now with new vacuum unit, CIS set to spec., timing back down to spec. and wastegate set more or less to spec. that edge has been taken off. Shop had to back off the settings to stop ping/knock. Car has a G6 APC, always use premium fuel, fuel system is clean (filter, TB, fresh plugs, etc...)
Is this a job for MSD BTM or AID (if one can be made to fit 8V)?
