In one sense it is better for your turbo because a synthetic 10w-30 will have the least amount of additives and best flow characteristics, especially cold flow. Your engine temperature is really only affected by very cold temperatures - all engines start at ambient (air) temperature and then warm to the same operating temperature (more or less) regardless of the ambient temperature, since when hot it is the thermostat that will control the temperature and it is cycling constantly between open and closed. Note that if the thermostat was constantly open and still unable to fully cool the engine then it would begin to get warmer based on ambient temperature. Otherwise it makes no difference, so choose your oil based on the coldest temperature you will encounter, not the warmest.

By the way, the same does not apply to your transmission if it is a 5-speed, as there is little source of heat and no thermostat/cooling system, so you should take advantage of the warm climate and use a synthetic 20w-50 such as Amsoil (recommended by Townsend).
