coolant hiding???

Hi,
As I posted earlier I now changed the coolant on my '92 16v. But only 5 litres (1 gallon?) came out when draining it?????!!!!
My '89 900c gave 10 litres (2 gallon?). I flushed the engine, radiator and heater until clear water came out and not the rusty brown stuff that was inhabiting it before! I used the instruction posted earlier.
I then refilled and needed only 5 litres (1 gallon). Where is the rest of the coolant????
Yes, I did bleed properly and waited for fan to cut in several times, bleeded again etc. But only 5 litres came out in the first place?
I removed both radiator hoses, heater hoses and metal pipe (bulkhead side) hose when flushing. Clear water came out on the bottom radiator hose (removed at the radiator) when flushing.
What could be the cause of this?
Engine runs fine... coolant temp is normal. But where is the rest of the coolant hiding? Could it be my engine is blocked??? How can I check or fix this? Throw in some cleaner?
I am very worried about this so please some advice?
