OK here goes. DONT GUT THE CAT! a new one from Saab is $900!
The first thing that needs to be done is to make sure the air and FUEL filter are OK. They are cheap and cheap insurance. If you have used any sorry fuel or do long drives on dirt roads and have 30K on them replace them to rule them out.
NEXT: Connect a volt meter to the single black wire of the o2 sensor. With the Saab running at operating temp ....what value do you get? use the dc volt scale.
If you get a steady reading and no changing from .3 - .6 "aprox"
Either the O2 sensor is dead and/or the preheater section of it lost power.
OR
The Throttle switch is out of adjustment
OR
The Air Mass Meter is Bad. This is usually in the company of bad cold start running condition.
Tell me what you find, to help narrow down on it.
