Reality... Turbo question?

Well I got the head off and have discoverd only bad things. I have not done the leakdown on just the block yet... soon. I bought this car without getting it checked out and I wish I had. #3 Cylinder has good sized dents in it as does the head, there are marks on all the other cylinders that could only be marks from the valves running in to them. SO what happened? Something got sucked in, chomped up in the #3 cyl broke the timing chain ===Valves in to cylinders. Then they fixed the valves and sold it to me saying the head had never been off. So it goes. Now for the question for those who have experience with turbos, should there be any play back and forth with the compressor/turbine shaft? I can move them a little bit, not enough to hit the walls but they get real close.
Thanks,
Cutic
