I've got an 1987 Saab 900. It had issues starting this winter while it was cold but seemed to start ok when it warmed up. I bought it into my local shop and replaced the cap/rotor, and plugs/wires. This made it function for a day. I figured it wasn't starting because it was still cold out but today @70 it still would not start. Looking at old posts I saw that the vaccuum hoses could cause similar issues so I went through and checked all the hosing. I found the hose from the evaporation canister to some type of vacuum switching device directly above it was totally rotten (only around a 2" hose), I replaced this but it still will not start. I know I'm getting spark, and I can smell and see fuel when I take off the air intake at the throttle body. My mechanic said that the issue could be the "cold start valve" but it refuses to start even when warm. I poured some gas in the throtle body and vary reluctantly got it to start but it sounded like it wasn't happy....I had to hold the gas pedal to the floor just to keep it running it only lasted a minute or so. I am totally confused, could this be a fuel delivery problem? If so how to I check to see what is functioning and what is not? Would a computer diagnostics help?

ANY IDEAS ARE APPRECIATED!!!!
