Where is the timing chain located? And would it affect the shifting of an automatic trans in a an 85 900. There is a slapping/clapping/scaping? noise coming from the front of the engine. The transmission is also acting strangely all of a sudden, it shifts too early, skips second sometimes ans won't downshift until about twenty miles per hour, and the it just popps into firts for a second and then into second. So it accelerates like a pig. Any ideas, and am I right in thinking it's the timing chain?
