IMHO: For turbos, always use synthetics; For non-turbos, synthetics are optional. The reason is the coking that occurs with turbos and Dino. You are certainly minimizing by allowing a cool down, but it is a bit of a hassle to do. The cool down is not a requirement if you use synthetic, as they are very resistant to heat. In regard to seals, many times synthetics do not cause new leaks. If they do, either live with the leak or replace the seal. (If you do the work yourself, the cost of seal replacement is almost nothing; 98% of the cost is the labor.) OTOH, if you don't mind the time and "abuse" for the cool down, dino will probably work well for many, many more miles.
