Okay, Now I'm upset - Turbo Bypass Valve Install - PITA?!?!

So I just ordered a replacement turbo bypass valve to cure the hooting on my 1991 Turbo Convertible w/Auto trans. Tonight, I'm washing the car and think "I better see exactly where that thing is so when I get the part I'm ready". After referring to my service manual and tracking down the bypass valve, it looks almost impossible to reach! It seems to be buried under several coolant/oil lines going to the turbo and is sandwiched between the block/head and the turbo.
Am I looking at the right thing?!?!? If so, it looks like I have to pay someone to install this damn thing unless I'm willing to unhook all of these coolant hoses and oil lines - then I've got to deal with cleanup, new coolant, oil refil, etc.
Is it really this hard, or am I looking in the wrong place/being misguided by the book? I was under the impression this was a simple DIY...
Any tips from the continuum would be valued!
