The low gas level switch is a part of the level sensor. I know that when I changed my sensor, the switch on my old sensor was shot. However, changing the sensor did not improve my "periodic" lower readings of gas level.
The sensor is a variable resistance from 0 to approx 41 ohms depending on the gas level. You may wish to test the gas gauge first by substituting first a resistance of 0 ohms then approx 41 ohms at the sensor connection wires to see if the fault is really the sensor...or the indicator. I have turned my attention to the indicator.....
