I wouldn't be surprised about that scam. I got pulled over in Lincoln, MA in basically the same situation; a car was passing me, cop pulled me over and said I was doing 73 when I KNEW I hadn't had it over 65. I challenged the ticket but I received NOTHING about a court date. I couldn't figure it out. After a few months of worrying and not knowing who to call, I just ponied up $10 to get a certified copy of my driving record. As of 4/23 the record said I had NO record of any active or previous violations. So I wouldn't be surprised if this is similar.

I got a V1 just to be on the safe side, because I didn't want another situation like this (a $243 ticket +3 points!). Someone here asked is the V1 worth it?

So far, from the month or two I've had it, its saved me from at least one ticket. Ka alert came on about a quarter of a mile around a bend before I saw the cop. Its also picked up those automatic "this is your speed" radar displays on roads at least half a mile away (a twisty residential road no less).

I think radar detectors are a good example of getting what you pay for. If you habitually cruise at least 5-10 over the speed limit I highly recommend one.
