...and give 'em a swift kick to the groin! Seems like tranny is clearly a weak leak in these cars. The folks who designed the pinion bearing dropped the ball, as did whoever got the brilliant idea to screw the most commonly torqued hard steel bolt on the car into soft aluminum.
The reduction in size of the bolt helps (KeithG, I agree 10mm would be even better), but what do you guys think of this idea I've been toying with for my car...
Add a thin rubber washer/bushing to the assembly. Let it sit between washer and tranny case. That way the stress can be absorbed through compression of the rubber (instead of compression of tranny case aluminum!) Rubber helps act as a gasket (like the rubber on the washer itself) to prevent leakage.
