I am enjoying the heck out of this! Not to mention the fact that I too have a leak in that area so will be curious how this all plays out. I can tell you that I cannot detect a drop in fluid level in anything, though, so it is a very slow leak.
How about this? Take off the power steering pump belt. Run for a couple of days and see if the leak slows or stops. You should have no pressure in the power steering system so much less fluid should leak out. Shouldn't damage anything except your arm muscles.
Have to admit that the drop in PS fluid level is pretty convincing evidence. This might only be happening while the engine is running, and the residue drips off while you are parked. That would explain the majority of the fluid being oil in your test, but the more major leak is PS fluid (not sure why the oil would continue to leak, but it always does).
