The 900 automatics are primative by todays standards. They aren't terrible, and they aren't terribly expencive to replace (see 9000). I would try to find a later model OG900 92-93, as they had slightly different gearing.
I bought a convertable 6 months ago(87 5spd). I looked at 15-20. One of which was a 92 with a automatic. It had 90k on it and shifted like a dream. They aren't all bad. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another OG900 with an automatic for my wife. At least I know how to replace it. The 9000CDT she drives now looks like a nightmare to remove the tranny, and they are a good bit more expencive then the BW37. Being a 4spd, it is however much faster and nicer to drive.
You may want to look into the NG900/9-3's They have very good automatics. I have never owned one, but It will probably be my next purchase.
