Alternator wiring or fan wiring...

It sounds like the alternator may be feeding back & keeping the ignition going without the switch on. I had this problem when I put in an MSD; the cure is to install a diode in the alternator exciter wire, so the alternator can't make itself charge by charging itself (yes, that makes some sense if you think about it).
I've heard of fans doing the same thing: coasting down, the motors become generators. I don't think Saab fans are big enough to do that, though.
How did you get it to shut off? Did you wiggle the switch? Maybe the switch contacts (or the ignition realy) stuck "on"?
