Kevin:
I have the issue with the windshield on my 92 900s (I could swear the previous owner lived on a dirt road).
I was quoted +- $270 for aftermarket by Safelite (national chain). However, when I asked if they would check on Saab OEM, they called a local Saab dealer and came back with $315. I checked with my local dealer directly and they quote $315 retail (uninstalled) ... so I gather that with the wholesale discount, a national chain should be able to install for not much more.
I think the extra $45 will be worth it. Not sure if prices are the same where you are. Definately let them know it is not being covered by insurance ... I think they've got some room to move on the pricing.
