Clutch Problems

We have a 87 900s with 180K. It has had some transmission work (90K)in the past (major internal bearing replaced). The clutch pedal was replaced at around 90K as well.
It has always been hard to get into first and reverse. By that I mean that the gears in the tranny never really stop spinning when the clutch is depressed. I can work the shifter/clutch to work around the problem, but my 5 foot nothing wife has difficulty getting the clutch pedal down far enough.
I recently had to replace a leaking clutch master cyl.
I have used the vacuum bleeding method, and this past weekend I used the preasure method. I am convinced that there is no air in the system.
I pulled the clutch cover off to see what was going on when you press the pedal. I would say that the clutch pedal travel 1.5-2 inches before the slave cyl. starts to push on the preasure plate. There is very little play in the pedal bushings, and you can see that the rod going into the master cyl. is being pushed during this initial 1.5-2 inches of travel.
Is this a possible problem with the slave?
I drove an 88 900Turbo this weekend, and I would say that the difference in the clutch pedals was the 1.5-2 inches I mentioned. What a huge difference.
Thanks,
Steve
