It sounds like almost exactly what I just went through with my work vehicle (93 ford escort wagon 210kmi) I got a check engine code that couldn't be traced as well. The mechanics told me it was the computer. Wrong. The Mass air flow sensor. Wrong. Fuel pressure regulator. Wrong. Fuel pump. Wrong. Turned out it was only, well started out it was only my o2 sensor. I know that you have a saab... however I have seen what driving on a bad o2 sensor can do and you should replace it as soon as possable. My car lost fuel economy, would cut out, spit and sputter and buck like a mother. I did learn.. and I believe this goes for all vehicles... replace it regulary or it WILL take other emission parts with it. Besides... they don't cost too much.
