Test apparently dead fan by direct 12V thru 15a fuse to fan connector. Verify ground.
Testing with wires to fan switch shorted:
- key off -> right only comes on (official cooling fan)
- key on -> both fans on
two circuits with separate fuses, Cooling, and AC.
- each has it's own single fan, and then borrow's the other one.
- when hot, fan-switch trips right 'cooling' fan, and thru a relay causes the left (US driver side) 'AC' fan to come on too ... it has separate fuse/circuit. (except 2.1L, single fan only)
- On some/most?, AC button (with cabin fan on) turns left AC fan on directly, and if compressor has cycled on, then right 'cooling' fan is tripped too. Key-on test: AC button in, engine not running, cabin fan on, -> left 'AC' fan comes on.
