I had something similar happen to me about a year ago... I was driving through town, heading to make a left turn, when the light turned yellow. Of course I decided I could make it (which I easily could... ) and flew through the intersection. Well, a big white panel van was in front of me and the bastard actually STOPPED on the other side of the intersection, either hoping I would hit him or would at least get trapped out in the intersection. Well, I did neither - I started to go around him. As soon as he saw that, he hit the gas and continued on the road.
About 1/4 mile later we pulled to a 4-way stop, him in front and me behind. I got this weird feeling and hung back a good distance. Sure enough, the driver of the van JUMPED OUT and started running for my car. I hit the locks, threw it first, and FLEW around him. I seriously almost hit the guy, but I swerved wide and he jumped to the side - good idea, 'cause a man vs. a 3000 lb SPG would not be pretty. In my rearview, I watched him jump back into the van and give chase. Fortunately, it was a windy road and the Chevy was not even a match for the SPG - staying within the speed limit I still kept way ahead.
I thought the whole thing was over, and continued heading for my destination. I pulled to a stoplight in the left turn lane, and turned on the radio to calm down. Well, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the van AGAIN. He didn't see me initially, and started to drive through the intersection, but must have seen me at the last minute. Instead of going straight, he made a right turn, looped through a corner gas station and came back on the same road, moving for the left turn lane. I knew my light was not gonna change, so I waited just enough time for him to commit to the lane and made a right turn from the left lane... traffic was clear, but I waited just long enough to ensure incoming cars would box him in.
I got away, clearly, but my heart was pounding so fast I couldn't think. Scariest thing that ever happened to me on the road...
