My trans doc says this can be worn shift folk caused by holding onto the shifter when in gear and pushing hard against the synchro in downshifting. Worn 1-2 shift fork is not unusual. Learn to 'blip' your down shifts and your shift folks will last. This could also be intro symptom of worn and loose trans. Change the trans oil and look at the metal on the trans plug magnet. Change you trans fluid every 10-20k and use good oil. I use Redline MTL and think it has given several c900s long trans life, though others here have dif. opinions.
