Clutch bleeding troubles......ARGH

This clutch bleeding thing "should" be a no-brainer here. Hydaulic hose went bad so bought new one. Trying to bleed the system and for the life of me CANNOT get it to bleed. How many times do you need to pump for the open - close bleeder valve? How long for the pressure thingie to work? I've tried both with no luck and am getting really mad at how simple this procedure should be. Went to AutoZone and borrewed their pressure thingie and I pump it up to about 10psi and only see a very slight movement in fluid. In fact a snail could probably crawl faster than this stuff is moving. The push pedal to floor, open bleeder valve, close bleeder, lift foot thing isnt' working either. I do get fluid that way too but I swear if I had to count how many times I've pumped, opened, closed, pumped the numbers would be in the hundreds!!!!! What the heck am I doing worng?
